FINCAD Raises Over $14,500 for Children with Diverse Abilities
By Micheline Chavigny | September 25, 2019

On September 16, the sun came out just in time for 12 FINCAD employees to rappel down our 25-story office building in Surrey. We are so honored to have been able to participate in Easter Seal’s 2019 Drop Zone fundraising event—and even more excited that we exceeded our fundraising goal! With the generous support and donations of my fellow Fincadians and other donors, we were able to raise more than $14,500 to be put towards this amazing charity.

I’d also like to take the opportunity to recognize each one of my colleagues that rappelled for charity. Armin Layegh, Chris Granstrom, Corey Steckler, James Church, Jordan Miller, Kathy Richmond, Mike Brooks, Mike Pollard, Raymond Beaubien, Sam Seneviratne, Susan Harmer and Tony Webb all had the honor of rappelling for Team FINCAD.

What is Easter Seal's Drop Zone?

For those of you unfamiliar with Easter Seal’s Drop Zone charity, it is literally a knee-shaking fundraising adventure that encourages people to get out of their comfort zone and face their fears through rappelling off a high-rise building. What could be more adrenaline-pumping than that? And the best part about it is that in the process of being pseudo-superheroes for the day, we are simultaneously raising money for individuals who need it the most –those living with disabilities.

This incredible charity helps to raise much needed funds to support children and adults with diverse abilities across BC and Yukon. It is through the donations and support of people like you and me that Easter Seals is able to provide programs and services such as the Easter Seals Camps and the Easter Seals House in Vancouver.

The Easter Seals Camps at Winfield and Shawnigan Lake are week-long summer camps with accessible equipment specially designed for children and young adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, while the Easter Seals House in Vancouver offers accommodation for the families of out of town individuals receiving medical treatment.

How to Get Involved...

If you are interested in hosting an Easter Seals Drop Zone event at your company or organization, be sure to check their website for more information. Or if you’d like to donate to FINCAD’s cause, there’s still time. Please visit our dedicated DropZone page. Thanks to all those who have already donated! We appreciate your support!
