We are thrilled to announce the kick-off of the 2024 Women in Finance Scholarship, empowering women pursuing postgraduate degrees in Finance. This year marks the 10th anniversary of this scholarship opportunity. Women who qualify are invited to apply via our online application portal. The application period runs from May 13 through June 14.
Leveling the Gender Imbalance
Despite women making up about half of the national workforce, recent census data reveals a glaring underrepresentation, with women accounting for only 27 percent of the STEM workforce. Numerix is committed to helping level the gender imbalance by supporting emerging female leaders in finance.
Our annual scholarship award recognizes talented young women advancing their education with the goal of pursuing a career in financial asset management, market risk management or derivatives finance within the capital markets. We take immense pride in helping accelerate the winner’s successful path into the financial industry.
The Women in Finance Scholarship program will award a $20,000 scholarship to one deserving candidate, symbolizing Numerix's dedication to promoting women's participation and empowerment in finance-related STEM fields. This scholarship program was previously run by FINCAD until Numerix acquired the company in 2023 and assumed responsibility for its funding and implementation.
2023 Winner: Jhavni Shah
Last year’s scholarship winner, Jhanvi Shah, is using her financial award to pursue a master's degree in Financial Asset Management at the Schulich School of Business, York University. Jhanvi has a deep fascination for the financial industry, which has fueled her desire to continue her education and career path in this field.
“My interest in capital markets and risk management arises from the dynamic nature of global financial systems, the need for informed decision-making, and the desire to contribute to financial stability. I am eager to deepen my knowledge, refine my skills, and make a positive impact in these critical areas of the industry.”
How to Apply
Numerix’s US$20,000 Women in Finance scholarship opportunity is open to women of any citizenship who have less than ten years’ work experience and less than five years of professional experience in the financial field. Eligible candidates must be studying finance in a graduate-level program at an accredited institution and must be pursuing or planning to pursue a career in financial asset management, financial risk management or derivatives finance.
