I couldn’t be more pleased to announce that FINCAD has been recognized again as one of BC’s top employers of 2017. Organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, the competition recognizes British Columbia employers that offer exceptional places to work. This marks the eighth time (in the last 9 years) that FINCAD has been acknowledged with this distinction.
You may be wondering, “What sets FINCAD apart as an employer?” Well, in my view, there are several things. For one, we are an innovative industry leader in one of the fastest-growing areas of finance with offices in Surrey, London, Dublin, and New York. We play in the complex, constantly evolving world of financial derivatives. What this means for our employees (who we call “Fincadians”) is that they get to solve current, complex, and interesting problems that give them numerous opportunities to grow professionally and learn something new.
Even though there are nearly 120 employees worldwide at FINCAD, our culture is very friendly, close knit and collaborative. We encourage everyone at all levels of the organization to contribute their ideas, suggestions and opinions on how our business or processes might be improved.
We value our employees and their hard work. This is recognized through perks like a generous vacation policy (four weeks to start) and a short-term incentive bonus program. We also get that Fincadians have a life outside of work with its own set of demands. That is why we provide options such as telecommuting, flexible work hours, and a 13 week maternity leave top-up where new moms can continue earning full salary.
At FINCAD, we place strong importance on giving back to the community. We engage in volunteer employee-led initiatives such as FINCAD HOPE (Helping Other People Effectively), which provides opportunities for employees to give back to local and global communities. One of our biggest initiatives is partnering with the Surrey Christmas Bureau to provide families in need of assistance the opportunity to have a nice Christmas. Many volunteer hours were spent raising money, shopping for groceries and gifts, and delivering them to the families. In addition, to encourage our employees to give back to a charity of their own choosing, we also offer them two paid days per year to volunteer.
Our CEO, Bob Park, is dedicated to ensuring that all of our employees share FINCAD’s core values. Bob meets with each and every final candidate before they join FINCAD. As such, I am proud to say that we’ve created a great culture and one where I truly enjoy coming to work every day.
